Easter 2012

Hi All,

This Sunday we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ! As this Easter Sunday approaches, our prayer is that we would live fully in the new life that has been given to us through Christ. It is the good news of the gospel that brings us life each day! As 2 Corinthians 4:16 says:

We do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison. (2 Corinthians 4:16)

What brings us hope of this glory?

But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive... Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:20-22, 58)

This is a radical call for us to look hard at out present lives to see if they are shaped by the hope of the resurrection. I pray that as we approach Easter, God stirs within us the joy, amazement, thankfulness, adoration and hope that the resurrection brings to us daily; and in this way, we worship him more fully.

Good Friday 2012

CrossPointe Winter Park will be hosting a Good Friday Service (4/6) at 6:30pm at the building of Winter Park Christian Church in Winter Park. At this special service we will be remembering the broken body and shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross on our behalf. Join us in gathering for this worship service. We will be looking at Mark's account of the crucifixion of Jesus.

Mark: 15:16-39 ::

And the soldiers led him away inside the palace (that is, the governor's headquarters),t and they called together the whole battalion. And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him. And they began to salute him, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they were striking his head with a reed and spitting on him and kneeling down in homage to him. And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the purple cloak and put his own clothes on him. And they led him out to crucify him.

And they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. And they brought him to the place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull). And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. And they crucified him and divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take. And it was the third hourt when they crucified him. And the inscription of the charge against him read, "The King of the Jews." And with him they crucified two robbers, one on his right and one on his left.t And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, "Aha! You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself, and come down from the cross!" So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, "He saved others; he cannot save himself. Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe." Those who were crucified with him also reviled him.

And when the sixth hourt had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?" which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" And some of the bystanders hearing it said, "Behold, he is calling Elijah." And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, "Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down." And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last.And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way het breathed his last, he said, "Truly this man was the Sont of God!"

Below is the setlist we will be using in worship on Friday. I encourage you to take time to listen and think through the words as they are meant to point us to Christ's sacrifice on the cross.

Sunday Preparation - 3/25/12

Hello Church! Audio links for this Sunday's music are posted below, including the new song we will be singing "One Thing Remains."

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,“For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.    - Romans 8:35-39
